Watch it. Learn it. Live it. Love it. And then, read on…..
Essentially, I wish my life at the office could be like the video shown. Instead, it is more like this:
Wednesday. 3pm. I’m in 7 hours deep. I have 6 paper cuts, a dead cell-phone battery, and a stack of files up to my neck. My desk partner, we’ll call her Tracy, decides to grace me with an unnecessary tale. A tale of a gold diggin’ cougar. Tracy likes to wear jewelry. A ring on almost every finger. Necklaces. Earrings. Which is great. I love me some jewels. But these jewels were given by a poor unfortunate soul. She tells me that her husband used to have a lot of money. But, within the first year of their marriage, he spent most of it on her. It baffled me. I just, I don’t even know her. Literally, have been working with her for 3 days and she practically tells me she’s worth nothing more than the metal upon her flesh. I nodded and mustered up a giggle, put my headphones in and resumed with my work.
Sadly, as it seems, that is going to be a normal day around that place.
Dunkin Donuts wasn’t as terrible this morning. The coffee is literally perfect every time so, I put up with the madness if need be. It makes me think about all of the people all over the world rushing to work, trying to get the kids to school, getting stuck in traffic and somehow always making time to have that morning cup of coffee. It’s truly a universal habit.
It’s been awhile since I have attempted to blog. I would say I feel pretty good about it, but I’m not sure yet. I just need some sort of creative outlet and this seems to be within my comfort zone. Besides, my life can be quite interesting and not sharing it’s content seems pretty wasteful to me.
Today was mostly predictable. My boyfriend and I recently introduced our cats and now we need a new mattress so…. that’s fun. It was unnaturally cold when I got out of bed this morning so of course I was in do-not-fuck -with-me mode. This is usually not an issue considering the current living situation I somehow convinced myself would be absolutely o.k being a part of. You see, about a year ago the curse was broken and I met this wonderful guy who I am currently residing with. Although I have a permanent residence in another city, I chose to take a job here so that I could get used to living in this area eventually. This all meant that I would be sharing a home with my boyfriend and his two roommates. The importance of being able to decipher between the two will soon be obvious so for now, we will call them Charlie and Francisco. I don’t have the energy to engage in character synopsis at this moment but I am sure you will get to know them very well.
Please let me also just say that Dunkin Donuts is straight up on crack from about 7am to 10am. Monday-Friday. The whole place on crack. I literally have to stop in 4 lane traffic to wait in line at the drive-thru to get my coffee, Every morning. My heart races as cars fly by my drivers-side window. Giving me a damn heart attack. But the need for coffee far outweighs the fear for my life. Praise the coffee gods.
The rest of my day was a bore. Snore, bore, whore. Speaking of whores, I saw one leaving work today! This place is full of em’. I think the 5-0 ‘round here have lost all strategic abilities in their elimination. Lol. Other than that, nothing to write home about.
Stay tuned. The good part is coming….
